Ambassador Hans Jörg Neumann Meets Cotton Farmers and Pupils of CmiA School Project

In the context of the German-Beninese cooperation German Ambassador, Hans Jörg Neumann, visited the recently opened primary school in Kpéré on January, 23rd 2014. It is one out of five newly built schools of the project “Coton pour l’Education” in Benin that has been inaugurated at the end of last year.

The school project has been initiated by the Aid by Trade Foundation and its retail partner Tchibo; it is supported by the German International Cooperation (GiZ) and German Investment and Development Society (DEG) as well as local farmer’s representatives. The main purpose of the visit was to get in touch and discuss with cotton farmers and pupils. Walking across the school grounds, the Ambassador was impressed by the reached measures – the construction of school boreholes, gardens and canteens. Consequently, the children of the cotton farmers have the chance to gain access to education, clean drinking water and healthy nutrition. Get to know more
